Lawyers Environmental Action Team (LEAT Tanzania), is a registered non-governmental organization based in Dar es Salaam, envisioning Africa with sustainable management of environment and natural resources. LEAT has signed an agreement with WWF-Tanzania to implement a three-year (2023- 2026) Integrated Approach for Transformation of Tanzania Fuel Wood Value Project -TFWVC. The project is being implemented  in Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Tanga, Tabora, Mwanza, and Pwani regions. LEAT specializes in research activities in natural resources management and governance particularly in land, mining, wildlife, water resources and forests. Moreover, it engages in advocating for legal amendments and policy reforms in environmental protection and natural resources management. LEAT further participates in raising awareness to local communities, and government agencies on the importance of adhering to good governance practices in environmental and natural resources management. Over the years, LEAT has transformed itself to become a community-centered environmental and natural resources management organization that strives for the protection of the environment. Our Mission is To contribute towards good governance and sustainable management of the environment and natural resources through public interest litigation, advocacy, strategic research, capacity building and networking.
