International School Of Tanganyika (IST) is an independent, private, not-for-profit day school located on two campuses in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. IST offers rigorous academic programmes coupled with a wide range of extra-curricular activities serving students from age 3 to Grade 12. Founded in 1963 by a group of parents led by Dr. Michael Latham (Chair) and Sir Andy Chande (Treasurer and Secretary). Our name, the International School of Tanganyika, reflects the fact that we were founded before the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar which became Tanzania. Our mission is to challenge, support and inspire our students to fulfil their potential and improve the world. Our longevity and strong international reputation has been developed through effective partnerships with our local community, strong academic results, and a well-balanced curriculum which allows students to explore their passions and interests. IST has many strengths as a school community; a rigorous academic curriculum, experienced and devoted faculty members, strong parent support networks, excellent facilities and a belief in a balanced educational program. The school is an equal opportunity employer.
