Aqua-Farms Organization (AFO Tanzania) existed since 2016 and was legally registered in July 2017 under NGO Act No. 24 of 2002 of the United Republic of Tanzania with 13 founding members who came together to ensure development and food security are achieved through environmentally friendly aquaculture and rebuild-ed fisheries. Moreover, AFO has committed to contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) number 1. No Poverty, 2. Zero Hunger, 3. Good Health and Well-being, 13. Climate Action and 14. Life Below Water. AFO- envisions to be an excellent Organization in replenishing aquatic resources with community-based conservation and sustainable aquaculture. We enhance food access and income generation to the community through research, training, workshops and collaboration in Aquaculture and Fisheries. We’re an open source NGO. We work in a transparent and collaborative way to share our values, mission approach and success stories and failures from what we learn. We work in diverse and inclusive teams where all members have a voice and influence. We have high standards of correct information and approach and aren’t afraid to be self-critical or externally criticized. If something doesn’t work, we change our approach until we’re on the right course.
