The Institute for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption ( PCCB/ TAKUKURU) is a public institution established under the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Law No. 11 of 2007. This law was enacted after the repeal of the Law for the Prevention of Corruption (TAKURU) Chapter 329 which was revised in 2002. The establishment of this body came after the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania passed the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bill of 2007 on April 16, 2007. This bill was signed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mr. Jakaya Kikwete became the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Act on June 11, 2007 and came into force on July 1, 2007. The Institute for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption (PAKUKURU), among other things, has the responsibility of preventing corruption through strengthening systems. In order to achieve this goal, the PCC conducts research, systems analysis, monitoring of the use of public resources (PETS), bringing together stakeholders to set strategies to implement the recommendations of the PCC to control corruption and monitor the implementation of those strategies.
